Arctic Expedition, Day 3 : Monacobreen Glacier & Texas Bar
7/26/20252 min read
After the polar bear episode that morning, we explored the glaciers in Monacobreen. In the afternoon, we set sail and made a shore landing at Texas Bar. The team carefully scanned and checked the area to make sure no polar bears had been nearby recently. This was especially important because one of the polar bears we saw that morning had been swimming in this direction.

Texas Bar is a remote place where polar bears are sometimes spotted. The area includes a small wooden cabin that serves as a shelter and base for guides and researchers. It is used to store equipment and supplies. The view at Texas Bar is spectacular, offering wide vistas of ice, sea, and distant mountains that capture the raw beauty of the Arctic.

As usual, I went in the opposite direction from the others. I wanted to be left alone especially in a place like this. I found a quiet spot with an amazing view and stayed there for more than two hours, just taking in the energy of this place.

Later, while roaming around, I met one of the guides. He then quietly showed me polar bear tracks on the ground. He asked me not to tell anyone because it might cause excitement and draw a crowd. It was a special moment to place my hand on the footprints of the largest predator on earth.
